Privacy Policy

Genderwave is built to be private by default. This policy explains what the App does and does not collect. Genderwave is provided by Alana .sh ("we", "us").

The short version

Genderwave does not require an account. Your voice and any file you analyze are processed entirely on your device and are never uploaded, stored, or transmitted anywhere. We use Firebase Analytics for basic, anonymous usage statistics — never audio, never recordings, never file contents.

On-device processing

All voice analysis — from your microphone or from a video or audio file you pick from your library — happens entirely on your device, using a small on-device model. Your audio, recordings, and any files you analyze are never sent to us or to any third-party server. When you analyze a video or audio file, the App may briefly copy it to a temporary location on your device to process it; that temporary copy is deleted immediately afterward and is never uploaded.

Microphone and photo library access

Genderwave requests microphone access to analyze your voice live, and photo library access so you can pick a video to analyze. These permissions are used solely to let you choose what to analyze — the audio and video themselves are processed on-device and are not collected by us.

Analytics (Firebase)

We use Firebase Analytics, a service provided by Google, to understand basic, aggregate usage of the App so we can improve it. The events we log are limited to:

  • Which screen you're on (Live or Files)
  • When you start or stop live listening
  • That a voice analysis happened, which mode produced it (last sentence, 30-second average, or file), and the resulting label (masculine, androgynous, or feminine)
  • Technical error details if a file fails to analyze (such as a file format or decoding error message), and if live listening stalls and how it recovered

None of these events include the audio itself, a transcript, the acoustic features used for classification, or any file you selected. Firebase Analytics may associate events with a random, non-identifying installation identifier and general device information (such as OS version) as part of its standard operation; see Firebase's privacy and security policy and Google's privacy policy for details on how Google processes this data.

Information we don't collect

  • No name, email, or account is required to use the App.
  • No audio, recordings, or files you analyze are ever uploaded or stored by us.
  • No advertising identifiers, and no third-party ad SDKs.

Purchase

Genderwave is a one-time paid download. Your purchase is processed entirely by Apple through your Apple ID account. We do not receive your name or payment card details. See Apple's privacy policy for how Apple handles purchase information.

Local storage

Genderwave does not save your recordings, analysis history, or any files between sessions. In-app preferences (such as your selected mode) reset when the App is closed and are never transmitted anywhere.

Children

Genderwave is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
